The summer signing was once again partnered in a back three and he seemed confident in his duties throughout most of the match.
However the physical presence of Andy Carroll changed the dynamics and although he challenged well he just could not compete with the big man’s height and power.
Mopped up everything that came along the ground however and is showing why a back three works well for Pochettino’s tactics.
