Tottenham victims of major injustice as latest Diogo Jota footage analysed – expert
Alan Hutton has insisted Diogo Jota should have been sent off for his challenge on Oliver Skipp in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Tottenham on Sunday (30 April).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender understands Ryan Mason’s frustration at the decision of Paul Tierney.
As shown on Sky Sports (30 April), Jota appears to kick Skipp in the head as both players collide when trying to win the ball.
Skipp was subbed off as a result of the incident and replaced by Richarlison who went on to score a late equaliser.
Moments later, Jota put the ball in the back of the net to score the winning goal for the Reds.
Spurs have now conceded 12 goals in their last three games and slipped below the Merseysiders in the Premier League table following the defeat.
When asked for his assessment of the challenge, Hutton told Football Insider: “It is a red card for me.
“I know they tried to say that Skipp put his head down, it was not that far down, it was not down to the levels where you think there is going to be a collision.

“I think Jota’s foot is high, it catches him, it is dangerous and it comes under dangerous play.
“I can see why Ryan Mason is upset because Jota then goes on to score the winning goal. It is a red card for me it is a dangerous challenge.“
