Kieran Maguire has some brilliant transfer news for Tottenham fans

Tottenham won’t be forced into selling Harry Kane this summer despite losing £200million in revenue over the course of the pandemic.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively about Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s recent cryptic remarks.

Levy told Spurs TV on 12th June that he would do what was “right for Tottenham” regarding Kane amid concerns over “£200m worth of lost revenue” during to Covid-19 crisis.

This site revealed in April that Kane, whose current deal expires in 2024, had told friends he is eager to quit Tottenham this summer.

Maguire claims that Spurs will not be forced to sell their prize in the coming months.

However, the spreadsheet wiz predicts that a new boss at the club may want to offload Kane in order to fund a recruitment drive.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I don’t see any necessity to sell Harry Kane because they’ve taken out a £250m long-term loan which is interest-only.

“It’s costing them £250m and is only at two-point-five per cent interest per year, so it’s just over £6m-a-year.

“It’s a frustration for them. But if the new manager has designs in terms of recruitment, then a major sale that brings in a lot of money might help to prime the pump.

“If you look at what happened immediately after Gareth Bale left, that money was reinvested.

“It was reinvested in a series of spectacular cock-ups, but it was reinvested nonetheless.”
