If Paulinho was bad, then Gilberto is another level worse, and his modest transfer fee does not rescue him from the criticism.
However, he may well have been embarrassed enough, having seen himself axed at the 45 minute mark in three of his 10 appearances, demonstrating that he was so far off having the ability to succeed in the Premier League.
His only saving grace is that he scored once against West Ham, but there is little other pride that he can take away from his time at the club, and fans would rather forget that they had to watch him a handful of times.
