Carney Chukwuemeka can play a key role in luring his brother Caleb to Aston Villa this summer.

So says Villa Park icon Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 19-year-old Northampton Town striker.

Teenage striker Kion Etete was the player included in the proposed deal.

Agbonlahor claims he has "heard a lot about" Northampton hitman Chukwuemeka and is optimistic Villa can win the race for his signature.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: "I'd back them to go that one over the line. I think it'd be an excellent deal too.

"I've heard a lot about him. He is a very talented player just like his brother. With his brothere there, he could help get that transfer over the line.

"You look at Aston Villa and there have been so many young players involved in pre-season. They also gave out a lot of debuts last season.

"It's a club that young players are going to want to come to and try and develop there."

Chukwuemeka, whose contract expires next summer, has scored twice in 28 appearances across all competitions for Northampton.

His brother also rose through the ranks at Northampton before swapping to the Villa acadaemy in 2016.
