Everton midfielder Beni Baningime has told the club he wants to join Danish side Brondby, Football Insider understands.

The DR Congo rising star, 20, is the subject of strong interest from the Scandinavian outfit, who have submitted a bid to take him on a season-long loan.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that Baningime is eager to test himself at senior level in a competitive league and wants the transfer to Brondby before the window shuts this month.

The youngster, who is predominantly a defensive midfielder, has played 12 times for the Everton first team since graduating from the club's youth ranks.

But his chances of senior football at Goodison have diminished this season after the club signed three senior central midfielders during the window for major money.

Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph have all arrived to bolster the team in a key area of the pitch, with former mainstay Idrissa Gueye leaving to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Gomes has been partnered by Morgan Schneiderlin and, then, Gbamin in central midfield for the opening two Premier League matches of the season, which have yielded a draw against Crystal Palace and a win over Watford.
