Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Coventry City defender Todd Kane on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Kane, 29, is undergoing a medical at The Valley today ahead of joining on a deal until the end of the season.

Addicks manager Dean Holden has identified the former Chelsea full-back as having the experience to improve his League One side.

Kane has turned out nine times for Coventry this term, although seven of those appearances have come from the bench.

Capable of operating at both right-back and right-midfield, the Chelsea academy graduate is out of contract at the end of the season.

He is well behind the Fankaty Dabo in the running for the right-back spot with the Sky Blues, while impressive youngster Brooke Norton-Cuffy is also capable of filling in on that side of the defence.

Kane is the second player set to undergo a medical at Charlton Athletic today, with 27-year-old former QPR striker Macauley Bonne also on the verge of joining on a six-month deal.

Sources have also told this site on 31 December last year that Charlton have submitted a bid for Rotherham United midfielder Shane Ferguson, 31.

Watford centre-back Mattie Pollock is, as revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (11 January), also on their radar.
