Kenny tells Benitez to snub Everton accept Newcastle offer instead

Rafael Benitez would be mad to accept a job offer from Everton if there is still a chance he could return to a post-takeover Newcastle United.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest in the Benitez-Everton saga.

Everton's pursuit of Benitez has sparked protests among the fanbase.

And Kenny claims that Benitez would be making a big mistake by taking the Goodison job under a "cloud."

"It wouldn't be the right choice at all, for me," he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

"It makes more sense to hold out and go to Newcastle over Everton.

"If they do get a takeover, that club will go places because it's a massive club with passionate fans.

"I'm sure he'd do well at Newcastle again and there wouldn't be all this hoo-ha about the fans protesting.

"Why have that cloud over you when you've got the chance to go to somewhere like Newcastle?"

Benitez took charge of Newcastle between 2016 and 2019.
