Bournemouth are set to hand goalkeeper Artur Boruc a new deal to extend his stay at the club, Football Insider understands.

Boruc's current deal is due to expire this summer, but Premier League club are preparing to offer the former Celtic man a 12-month extension to keep him at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2020.

The former Poland international started this season as back-up to Asmir Begovic, but he has won his place in the starting XI in recent weeks after Begovic found himself out of favour under Eddie Howe.

Boruc has made 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Bournemouth and Howe has given the green light to keep the 39-year-old on the South Coast for another season.

The new deal will see him turn 40 during next season and the new deal is likely to raise further question marks over Begovic's long-term future at Bournemouth.

Football Insider revealed last week that Cherries boss Eddie Howe has made a new goalkeeper one of his top priorities this summer and England international Jack Butland has emerged as his prime target.

Boruc initially joined Bournemouth on loan from Southampton before making the move permanent ahead of the 2015-16 campaign and he has gone on to make over 120 appearances for the Cherries.
