Norwich City have joined Bournemouth and Southampton in the race to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips as they prepare to table a bid, Football Insider can reveal.

Phillips enjoyed an outstanding season with Leeds with his impressive displays bringing him to the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

Southampton have held a long-term interest in Phillips having had their scouts monitor the midfielder all season and they believe he can comfortably make the step up to the Premier League.

A Norwich source has told Football Insider they are ready to submit a "significant" bid for Phillips and test Leeds' resolve to hang on to the man emerging as their prize asset.

Phillips, who was named Leeds' Player of the Season, has just two years to run on his contract at Elland Road after, as revealed by Football Insider, the club stalled on offering new contracts to him and other key players during the season.

Premier League new boys Norwich were impressed by Phillips this season after battling Leeds for most of the campaign for automatic promotion.

Daniel Farke's side are keen to win the race for the all-action midfielder as they prepare for life back in the top flight next term.
