Kevin Phillips tips Ryan Sessegnon to leave Tottenham on a 2020-21 loan following the arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

The former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, is "really excited" to see Reguilon line up for Jose Mourinho's after hearing good things about the 23-year-old.

The Spain international, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla, is expected to be the Lilywhites first choice left-back with competition provided from Ben Davies.

The arrival of Reguilon has seen the London club make a U-turn on the future of Sessegnon and they are now willing to listen to loan offers for the full-back.

When asked by Football Insider if the former Fulham player's days were numbered at Spurs, Phillips said: "I am sure he will go on loan somewhere.

"It was a great move for him but he would have been better off staying at Fulham for another season or two and play regular football. But when Tottenham come knocking for you it is hard to turn down. He needs to go and play football now.

"There is so much competition now with Ben Davies and Reguilon.

"I've heard good things about Reguilon, who was voted the best left-back in La Liga last year. I am really excited to watch him play this season."

Tottenham full back

Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham for a £24million fee in August 2019 but has since struggled to establish himself in the first team.

He has made 12 appearances for the Lilywhites last season and is yet to feature in the 20120/21 campaign.
