Everton are in the Josh King race ahead of tomorrow's deadline day after Bournemouth slashed his asking price.

The Championship club wanted £20million for the versatile forward, 28, earlier in the window but will now take £15m to get a deal done by the Friday 5pm cut-off.

King has held talks over moves to West Ham and Aston Villa, while there has also been interest from the likes of Fulham and West Brom.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Everton are plotting a surprise last-gasp swoop for King if the terms of the deal are right for them.

West Ham are also expected to make another move for the Norway international after having a £13million bid rejected by Bournemouth earlier this week.

Everton have the resources and ambition to blow their rival Premier League clubs out of the water.

The Carlo Ancelotti factor and the team's outstanding start to the season could also prove critical factors should the Merseysiders step up their pursuit.

The battle for King is likely to be one of the headline transfers of the second deadline day, in the short domestic window that closes tomorrow.

Significantly, rival suitors West Brom are no longer in the running after King made it clear he does to want the transfer.

King has scored 48 goals in 161 Premier League appearances although he was not prolific in attack last season with just six goals and four assists to his name in 26 top-flight games.
