'Ridiculous' - Exclusive: Robinson reacts after offers tabled for 'Standout' Everton star
Paul Robinson says it would take a "ridiculous" amount of money to tempt Everton into selling Mason Holgate this month after offers were tabled for his capture.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England goalkeeper heaped praise on the 23-year-old for his displays this season, singling him out as a "standout" performer.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, two separate bids have been made for the versatile defender's signing this month, the Toffees rejecting them both.
The former England under-21 international has established himself as a mainstay in the side this season, making 15 appearances across all competitions and registering 3 assists.
Robinson says that Holgate is finally reaching his potential at Goodison Park and says only a big-money offer would tempt the Toffees into selling up.
“He has developed into the player they thought he was a couple of years ago,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“He has seemed to have found his right position at the right time for his age. He and Tom Davies have been standout performers this season for Everton, especially Holgate.
"I cannot see any offer, unless it was astronomically ridiculous, that Everton would accept for him.”
Holgate spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, playing 21 times and scoring once as the Baggies narrowly missed out on promotion through the play-offs.
The defender’s impressive form has led to England manager Gareth Southgate keeping a close eye on his progress as the Three Lions prepare for this summer's Euros.
