Paul Robinson claims that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho will not really want to sign Norwich City's Max Aarons in the summer.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that he sees the young full-back as an ideal signing were former manager Mauricio Pochettino still in charge.

However, Robinson is not convinced that Mourinho will want the young right-back, suggesting he is the sort of signing that Pochettino would have loved to make when he was in charge.

"If Pochettino was the manager I would say that was an ideal signing for Spurs, that's one that you can see happening," Robinson told Football Insider.

"Whether they put him into the squad or send him out on loan, I know he's 20 now, he's got a lot of experience, played a full season last season, almost got a full season this season, so he's probably not one you'd sign and send out on loan.

"I'm not so sure he's a Jose Mourinho signing, you look at it and if Pochettino's in charge, you can see that link. He is without doubt a top-quality player."

Aarons has played 68 times in total for Norwich since breaking through the youth ranks at Carrow Road, with three goals and seven assists under his belt.

This season has seen him make 25 appearances across all competitions, all but two of those coming in the Premier League.
