Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid after being offered a four-year deal, Football Insider understands.

The England right-back, 28, has been given permission to hold talks and undergo a medical at the Spanish big hitters after they agreed a fee in the region of £25million for him with Spurs.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Trippier is poised to sign a lucrative four-year contract with Atletico that will end his time in north London.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the defender this window, but Atletico have moved quickly to try and tie up a deal and beat the likes of Juventus and Napoli to his signature.

Diego Simeone's side have been in the market for a new right-back as they seek a replacement for Juanfran.

Trippier, who has made 109 appearances for Tottenham since signing from Burnley in the summer of 2015, impressed for England at last summer's World Cup, but he failed to reproduce that form last season for Spurs as he struggled with a groin injury.

Selling Trippier would leave Spurs with only Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as recognised right-backs at the club and it remains to be seen if they will move for a new defender before the close of the transfer window.
