Andros Townsend has signed a two-year deal with Everton, Football Insider has learned.

This site revealed earlier today (19 July) he was undergoing a medical with the Merseyside giants.

An Everton source has told Football Insider he has passed his medical and put pen to paper on a contract.

Townsend is available on a free transfer after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of his deal last month.

The 30-year-old played 185 times across all competitions in five years at Selhurst Park.

He scored 16 times, including the 2018-19 Premier League goal of the season, and provided 28 assists for the Eagles.

Townsend will link up with his former Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park.

The ex-England international scored four goals and provided two assists in 13 top-flight games for the Magpies in 2016.

His efforts were not enough to prevent Newcastle from suffering relegation to the Championship and Townsend moved to Palace as a result.

He has scored 22 goals and contributed 33 assists in the top-flight across his time with Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

Everton are set to follow up the arrival of Townsend with the signing of Asmir Begovic.

Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday (18 July) the goalkeeper will move to Goodison Park on a free transfer from AFC Bournemouth.

The veteran stopper, 34, is reportedly set to also sign a two-year deal and will provide back-up to England star Jordan Pickford.
