Terms agreed: Tottenham close in on Tomiyasu after offer accepted - Sources
Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and are confident of signing him this month, Football Insider can reveal.
Spurs are the frontrunners to land the defender, 22, ahead of rival suitors Atalanta.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that managing director Fabio Paratici is making progress on the Tomiyasu deal with the player already accepting their offer of a long-term contract.
Paratici is now turning his attention to agreeing a fee and the structure of the deal for the 23-times Japan international.
The Londoners have offered £15.5million including add-ons for Tomiyasu but Bologna are holding out for £17.2million.
This site revealed on 2nd July that Tomiyasu has his "heart set" on a move to Spurs and has made that clear to his inner circle.
Paratici is hopeful of finalising the deal and for the versatile defender to become their first summer signing.
Strengthening in central defence is Spurs' top priority in this window and they are expected to sign two senior players in that position.
Another leading target is Wolves captain Conor Coady although there is strong competition for his signature from Everton.
Coady, 28, would offer Premier League experience while Tomiyasu would also provide proven international calibre.
The defender, who can also slot in at right-back, is highly regarded in Italy and will be well-known to Paratici after his nine years with Juventus.
Tomiyasu has played 63 times for Bologna since joining for a £9million fee from Belgian top-flight side Sint-Truidense in the summer of 2019.
