Adam Lallana will pen a mega-money new Liverpool contract within days, according to a report.

The Sun claim the Anfield playmaker has agreed a £150,000-a-week, four-year deal that will run until the summer of 2021.

It is said that the landmark agreement will be sealed within days as an announcement is expected by the club this week.

The new terms will replace Lallana's current contract, which is due to expire in 2019.

It underlines how integral a player Lallana has come at Anfield after making huge strides since Jurgen Klopp was appointed manager in October 2015.

The England international has been a consistent performer under Klopp and one of the first names on the teamsheet for a team that has delivered some outstanding displays this season, including in their 2-0 league win over Tottenham eight days ago.

The new deal puts to bed rumours about Lallana's future and ends the hopes any rival clubs will have of prising him from Merseyside.

The 28-time England international has taken his game to a new level under Klopp, proving one of the outstanding players in a highly watchable side.

In 27 appearances this season in all competitions, Lallana has scored seven goals and weighed in with seven assists, with all of them coming in league encounters.

Football Insider verdict:

Good teams keep their best players, and Lallana certainly belongs in that category. He has been a nailed-on starter for Klopp's dynamic side this season and it is a growing truism that, when the Englishman plays well, so does his team. A creative midfielder whose half-turns and grass-gobbling runs have become Anfield legend, Lallana has thrived in a slightly deeper central role this season. Coming just weeks after Philippe Coutinho penned a lucrative contract extension, an imminent announcement about Lallana is a major boost to Liverpool's hopes of climbing to the next level.
