Tottenham tipped to conclude mega-money deal 'soon' after Levy talks update - pundit
Paul Robinson has predicted Tottenham to conclude a stadium naming rights deal "soon".
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one insisted the club's recently published accounts will not have a bearing on talks.
In a statement (23 November), Spurs published their annual accounts for the year ending June 2021.
Tottenham posted a pre-tax loss of £80.2million as revenues fell from £403.2m to £361.9m because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Football Insider revealed (25 September) that the club have held talks over a naming rights deal for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A Spurs source told Football Insider on Sunday that that chairman Daniel Levy is holding out for a 10-year agreement worth £25million per-annum.
When asked by Football Insider if negotiations could be effected by the recent loss, Robinson said: "If there's a deal to be done, Daniel will do it.
"I don't think the financial statement, the loss, will force the club to lower their demands in any talks over the naming rights of the stadium though.
"Daniel is very clever in what he does. These figures are new to the public but the club will have known them for a long time. Daniel knows that the club are in a great financial place going forward. The stadium and the training ground are up there as the best in the world.
"Yes, a deal for the naming rights is dragging on a while but the loss will not have any bearing on it. I don't think it's long before a deal will be done. I think it will be soon.
"It's great to always have that option there. If they ever need to bring in revenue quickly, they can sell the naming rights to the stadium instead of trimming down the playing staff."
