Trent Alexander-Arnold: Expert can’t believe ‘massive’ update on Liverpool superstar – ‘you’re joking’
Liverpool will continue their title push despite “key man” Trent Alexander-Arnold picking up a fresh injury.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider just after the news broke.
Today (18 March), Liverpool revealed Alexander-Arnold, 23, will be out for “weeks” after sustaining a hamstring injury.
He now faces a race against time to be fit for the Reds’ crunch game against man City on 10 April.
Upon being told of Alexander-Arnold’s fresh knock, McAvennie insisted it is a “massive blow” to Liverpool.
“You’re joking? You can’t make that up, can you? Just as they get close to City, this happens,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“That is a massive blow, he’s a key man for them. I’m a huge fan of his. Some of the things he does, just amazing.
“So it’s the hamstring, they can do amazing things with that nowadays. I had injuries like that so I know what he’s going through.
“If he’s only strained it, it might be a few weeks. That’s what you have to hope for.
“In the meantime, Liverpool do have players who can cover. They aren’t as good as Trent but they will do a job.
“They can still keep up with City, they just need to hope he’s back for that game at The Etihad.
“That has to be the aim for them at this point. With the technology they have, you can’t rule him out of that game yet.”

Alexander-Arnold has made 35 appearances for Liverpool so far this season.
He has scored two goals and provided 17 assists.
In other news, a pundit has claimed Liverpool may be handed an unfair advantage after a major Premier League development.
