Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘getting away with murder’ at Liverpool after what pundit spotted
Frank McAvennie has claimed the Liverpool defence are “getting away with murder”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson have been “off the boil” this season.
Despite his vision going forward, Alexander-Arnold has received criticism in the past for his poor defensive abilities.
As quoted by the Daily Mail (10 April), former Man United man Roy Keane claimed that Alexander-Arnold has “not improved at all defensively” in recent years.
Reds legend Jamie Carragher agreed with Keane and said he is unsure if the right-back will “ever improve defensively”.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s side are finding form, having only lost one of their Premier League games this month, they are continuing to concede goals.
In the four games this month, the Reds have conceded seven goals, compared to just two in March.
McAvennie claimed the whole of the Liverpool defence needs to improve.
“Their defence is all over the place,” he told Football Insider.
“It has been awful, some of the defenders now get away with murder.

“Coming up against players that want to run in behind you, they are not equipped for that. They have got to sort their defence out.
“Trent is a good player going forward but he just can’t defend. That is what I like about Robertson, he can get forward but he is a good defender as well. But he is off the boil at the moment as well.“
