‘Trent Alexander-Arnold regrets joining Real Madrid’ – Liverpool fans stunned

Liverpool fans are insisting Trent Alexander-Arnold “regrets” joining Real Madrid after what they saw on the pitch at Anfield.

Arne Slot’s side drew 1-1 with FA Cup winners Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season as Ismaila Sarr’s goal sent the visitors 1-0 up before the break.

After half-time, the Eagles continued to frustrate the hosts before Ryan Gravenberch was shown a red card and Mohamed Salah popped up with the equaliser.

However, the game meant little to either side, and both have trophy parades to look forward to on 26 May after successful seasons.

Instead, the focus at Anfield was set on the post-match trophy lift where much of the attention was centred on Alexander-Arnold‘s reaction.

The 26-year-old was in tears on the pitch as he said an emotional goodbye for the final time to the club he has represented for 20 years.

Alexander-Arnold tipped to return to Anfield one day

Liverpool have been quick to move on from Alexander-Arnold’s departure, and are expecting to confirm the signing of Jeremie Frimpong in the coming days.

The decision was seemingly made a long time ago, despite the recent announcement, and supporters had come to terms with his departure.

Meanwhile, former Reds full-back Glen Johnson told Football Insider that Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to return to Anfield later in his career.

That is despite former Man United chief scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Alexander-Arnold could re-join Liverpool in the future after what Michael Owen said.

Liverpool fans moved by emotional Trent Alexander-Arnold goodbye

Fans had initially appeared apathetic towards the full-back’s departure after months of speculation, as some chose to boo him at Anfield following the announcement.

However, his tears and emotional farewell following the Crystal Palace gave have moved even the most hardened of Liverpool fans, as tributes to his success poured out.

Many supporters took to social media to wish him the best of luck, but some suggested he looked as if he regretted his decision to leave Anfield in favour of Madrid.
