Tycoon with reported £30billion fortune in stands for Newcastle clash against Liverpool

British tycoon Amanda Staveley has been spotted among the spectators at St James’ Park for Newcastle United’s clash against Liverpool.

The 44-year-old businesswoman is a well known figure within the backrooms of football clubs, having helped in the sale of Manchester City to Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Mansour, and was also involved in extended negotiations for the sale of Liverpool, although that never materialised.

As reported by The Times’ North East football reporter George Caulkin on his personal Twitter account, Staveley will watch on as the Reds take on Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.

Caulkin also reports that she has nearly £30billion worth of assets under he management and that it has been reported she is considering purchasing a top flight club.

The news of her attendance at St James’ Park will have the Toon Army’s ears pricked, with current owner Mike Ashley an unpopular figure on Tyneside.

It also comes just 24 hours after reports of the club signing agreements with numerous parties which are to do with the potential sale, or external investment, into the club.

One such party is reported to be from China, which follows the club having secured their biggest ever sponsorship deal with Chinese betting agency Fun88.

In other Newcastle United news, Jermaine Jenas has predicted the club’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
