Tyrone Mings cited as Aston Villa finalise big-money signing – Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Pau Torres’ imminent Aston Villa arrival leaves “no room for error” for the likes of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa.
The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed manager Unai Emery will want to play the 26-year-old “at all costs” after working with him previously.
Football Insider revealed last week (29 June) that Aston Villa are in advanced talks to sign Villarreal defender Torres.
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has updated to claim (2 July) that Torres will complete his move this week for a fee of £33million.
A first-choice partnership of Mings and Konsa came into their own last season following Emery’s arrival in November 2022.
Meanwhile, big-money signing Diego Carlos will also be back in the fold after missing the majority of the 2022-23 campaign with an Achilles injury.
“Torres is going to fit into that Aston Villa side perfectly for only £33million,” He told Football Insider.
“If you watch his clips, he’s a very, very good ball-playing centre half, and maybe he’s not the quickest of the lot but he is very good on the ball.
“Emery will want him to play at all costs, and he’s a player who likes to receive the ball – even from the keeper, and turn to start off attacks.

“And wow, talk about competition for places.
“You know, there’s no room for any error if you were a defender at Villa next season because there’s going to be someone that can take your position.”
