Unai Emery needs Liverpool masterplan after ‘massive blow’ confirmed in statement – La Liga expert

Gerard Moreno’s absence from Villarreal’s trip to Liverpool next week would be “a massive blow” for Unai Emery’s side, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, told Football Insider that Emery will need “a great plan” if he is without his main striker on Wednesday.

Villarreal travel to Anfield on 27 April for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, the La Liga side could be without star striker Moreno for the clash.

A statement from Villarreal (18 April), confirmed the Spain international has suffered “a severe hamstring strain.”

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for the significance of Moreno’s possible absence, Campbell said: “Moreno has been excellent.

“I have to say that I’m surprised that nobody has taken a chance on him. I am really surprised because I think he’d do well in the Premier League.

“It is a massive blow that he’s injured. They would miss him next week because he is one of their main threats. He’s so effective in that top end of the pitch.

“It will be interesting but Unai Emery tends to come up with great plans from somewhere in times like this and he will have to again.

“It will be a tough game for Villarreal but it will be even tougher if Moreno isn’t available.”
