‘Unreal, he’s a fraud’ – Fans of all clubs react as Viktor Gyokeres footage analysed
Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres’ poor performance for Sweden has been thrust under the microscope online after their latest World Cup qualifying loss to Kosovo.
Viktor Gyokeres has been unable to live up to expectations since his summer move to Arsenal from Sporting CP for around £64million.
He did score three goals in the first four games of his Arsenal career in the opening stages of the campaign, but two of those were against newly-promoted Leeds United, and one in that game was a late penalty.
The 27-year-old has now not scored in over a month, or his last six games, for the Gunners, while his lacklustre form has also been prevalent on international duty, as he is without a goal for Sweden since November 2024.
Alexander Isak failed to impress for Sweden against Kosovo on Monday (13 October) as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to remain bottom of their World Cup qualifying group, and Gyokeres’ performance was no better alongside him in attack.

Gyokeres hounded online for another poor Sweden showing
Gyokeres lined up in a strike partnership with Liverpool man Isak in Gothenburg, but both players failed to make an impact as Sweden fell to a 1-0 defeat to dash their chances of qualification for the 2026 tournament through the groups.
The Arsenal striker only took two shots on goal, failed to create a chance, did not complete a successful dribble or aerial duel, committed two fouls and only won one of his five ground duels [Fotmob] on a difficult night for his country.
Supporters of numerous different clubs, including Arsenal, took to X to share their reaction to another poor performance from the 27-year-old, as one said: “Sweden should take off Gyokeres, revert to a back four and bring an attacking midfielder or wide forward. Gyokeres is awful and literally offers nothing whatsoever. It’s almost like playing with 10 men.”
Another expressed their disbelief at his poor record so far this term, saying: “Viktor Gyokeres has played 14 games this season and he’s only scored against Leeds and Nottingham Forest….” with a picture of Pep Guardiola looking shocked.
Arsenal fans are clearly beginning to worry about his form, as one added: “Gyokeres was an obvious bad signing, but people couldn’t look past big thug, big numbers. I’ve said it for the last 5 months—there’s nothing he can do to change the fact that he’ll be a bad signing. It’s on the decision makers tho, accept it now, and sell next summer.”
Arsenal may lose out on title success without Gyokeres’ goals
Premier League legend and current pundit Alan Shearer has previously insisted that Arsenal’s players need to supply Gyokeres better by playing first time balls into his feet and across the box rather than him having to create chances on his own.
His move was the subject of intense speculation earlier this summer following an amazing season with Sporting that saw him bag 39 goals in 33 league games, and it is not as if he has lost that scoring touch overnight, so clearly something is not quite clicking right now for club or country.

Arteta’s credentials to lead Arsenal to the Premier League title have been questioned by supporters, and there is a general feeling that he needs to win a trophy of any kind this term to keep his job.
If Gyokeres keeps struggling in attack and is unable to bag consistently for his new club, then the Gunners seem unlikely to win anything despite currently sitting top of the league.
The bad feeling around his transfer is sure to affect morale around the dressing room, but Arteta is likely to stick by him once Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are back fit, which could then also be a contributing factor to them failing to win the league once again.
