Van Dijk and Frimpong respond to Liverpool teammate’s injury update
Liverpool’s current and former players were quick to react after Joe Gomez shared a positive update on his recovery from injury sustained in pre-season.
The defender has endured a tough year at Liverpool after initially playing a rotational role under Arne Slot before suffering a injury that kept him out of the season.
Gomez suffered a serious hamstring injury in the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth back in January, which sidelined him for the final months of the campaign as he missed 28 matches last term.
His rehabilitation hit another setback in pre-season, with Gomez forced to withdraw from Liverpool’s summer tour of Asia and return to Merseyside for further treatment after a minor injury during the break.
Now, with questions still lingering over his fitness, the 28-year-old has posted an encouraging message to supporters, offering hope that he could make his return to action sooner rather than later.

Joe Gomez back in Liverpool training after injury setback
After missing several weeks of training, pre-season friendlies, and Liverpool’s Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace, Gomez has confirmed his return to action in training.
The defender shared photos from the latest session, showing himself back on the grass. The post quickly drew plenty of attention, with Virgil van Dijk, Jeremie Frimpong and former teammate Darwin Nunez all among those to like it.
Despite the positive scenes, Gomez’s future at Anfield has been the subject of speculation this summer. Football Insider reported that West Ham have joined Leeds United and Everton in the race to sign the Gomez, with Graham Potter eager to hand him a regular starting role.
He started just six matches last season, making only 17 appearances in all competitions, largely serving as back-up to Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. However, with Jarell Quansah leaving for Bayer Leverkusen and doubts over Konate’s future, the centre-back could yet remain at Liverpool beyond this transfer window.
RB Leipzig lead Harvey Elliott race as Jurgen Klopp links emerge

While Gomez has been linked with a move away, Harvey Elliott is another Liverpool player attracting interest.
Football Insider report that RB Leipzig are leading the chase for the Elliott, with former Everton chief Keith Wyness suggesting that Jurgen Klopp is “interfering” in the process.
The former Liverpool boss, now Head of Global Football for Red Bull, has reportedly been influential in Leipzig’s interest. Several clubs are said to be monitoring Elliott’s situation, but a reunion with Klopp could be a key factor in determining his next move.
