Darwin Nunez shares emotional farewell message to Liverpool fans

It was confirmed on 9 August that Nunez had officially completed his move to Saudi club Al-Hilal and the striker has now posted an emotional farewell to Liverpool supporters.

He shared multiple photos from his time at Anfield alongside a heartfelt letter, saying he leaves with a “full heart” and expressing his gratitude to fans who “always had my back.”

His former teammates responded warmly, with Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Conor Bradley reacting with heart emojis. Other ex-teammates who have already left the club, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho, also showed their support by liking the post.

After scoring just seven goals in 47 appearances last season and facing an uncertain role under manager Arne Slot, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Nunez wanted to leave Liverpool after being denied a move in January.

Al-Hilal reignited their interest in the striker following a failed attempt to sign Victor Osimhen and have now secured their man.

During his time at Liverpool, Nunez made 143 appearances, scoring 40 goals, and was part of the squads that lifted both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League trophy.

With Nunez’s departure, the Reds are expected to move quickly to sign their top target, Alexander Isak, who is pushing for a transfer away from Newcastle United.

Football Insider reported on 2 August that Liverpool are prepared to “shatter” the British transfer record to secure Isak, with personal terms reportedly already agreed.

However, Newcastle’s failure to sign several striker targets this summer means it remains uncertain whether they will allow the Swedish forward to leave before the transfer window closes.
