Veteran 6ft 1in free agent would add huge experience to Celtic squad ahead of crunch ties

A lack of experienced players has arguably cost Celtic in the Champions League under Brendan Rodgers.

The team has looked at sixes and sevens and times, as they lack that veteran who has the know-how to guide the team along.

There is however, one player available on a free transfer would be a perfect addition to the Hoops squad ahead of the crunch Champions League qualifiers – John Terry.

The 37-year-old recently left Aston Villa, as announced on their official website, after the Villains lost the play-off final to Fulham.

Brendan Rodgers should certainly consider making a phone call to Terry, to offer him a year’s deal to end his career in style in Glasgow.

The 6ft 1in defender might be a very controversial figure, and he might not be as good as player as he once was, but he still has plenty of defensive nous.

No current Hoops defender has anything like his experience, and he would keep a cool head in a difficult situation, something which you can’t say about the current side, particularly when it comes to Europe.

Interestingly enough, Terry has played at Celtic Park once before, in a charity match for Stan Petrov, so he does have an idea of what it is like to play for the Hoops.

A move for Terry might not be popular with fans because of some of the incidents in the former England captain’s past, but if he helps the Hoops qualify for the Champions League he will have been a more than useful signing.
