Vicario, Justin Kluivert react to ‘remarkable’ message from Tottenham’s Van de Ven

Guglielmo Vicario and Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert reacted to a message from Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven on social media.

The 24-year-old endured an injury-hit second season in North London, but remains one of the Premier League‘s most highly-regarded defenders.

In spite of suffering several injuries last season, Van de Ven was a crucial part of recently sacked Ange Postecoglou‘s side, making an astounding goal-line clearance in the Europa League final victory over Man United.

The Dutch defender has built an impressive on-pitch understanding with Atletico Madrid-target Cristian Romero, but the Argentine defender may be heading for the exit this summer.

Following the culmination of a season most at Spurs will want to put behind them, despite ending the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy, Van de Ven jetted off to join up with his Netherlands teammates for two World Cup qualifying matches.

Van de Ven shares ‘remarkable’ message

He featured in both games as the Netherlands got off to a winning start in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Ronald Koeman’s side beat Finland 2-0 on 7 June, before trouncing Malta 8-0, with Spurs’ defender scoring and assisting, on 10 June.

Van de Ven shared several images of himself in action for the Oranje on Instagram, captioned: “Quite a finish to this remarkable season.”

The post was liked by international teammate Kluivert and Tottenham shot-stopper Vicario.

Tottenham yet to get summer business underway amidst managerial confusion

Football Insider Verdict

Despite finishing 17th last season and in desperate need of a squad revamp, Spurs are yet to make any moves this summer.

Thanks to the Club World Cup, teams were able to do business from 1 June to 10 June, but the transfer window is now closed until 16 June.

It would appear that their delayed approach to recruitment is likely down to Daniel Levy’s anaemic approach to the managerial situation in North London.

Football Insider revealed exclusively on 1 June that Tottenham had decided to sack Postecoglou, but it took until 6 June for that decision to be announced officially.

Spurs are likely to appoint Thomas Frank as his successor, but once again, things are moving slowly in North London and if it takes any longer, the club genuinely risk missing out on some of their main targets this summer.
