Victor Osimhen: Chelsea have new ‘concerns’ about landing ‘top target’ – Sources
Chelsea have new concerns about their ability to lure Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old has been a top target for the Blues for some time following his impressive goalscoring form in Italy’s Serie A.
It is believed Chelsea remain keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer in a bid to solve their goalscoring problems.
But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Londoners are “concerned” their lack of Champions League football could see them miss out on Osimhen.
The Blues are 17 points adrift of the top four with just 13 games left to play in the 2023-24 campaign.
Chelsea ‘concerned’ about missing out on Osimhen – Paris Saint-Germain ready to swoop
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer the Nigeria international the chance to play Champions League football as they search for a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe.
It is believed Osimhen is ready to leave Napoli in the off-season despite signing a new contract at the club in December 2023.
Sources say Chelsea are willing to spend big to land him in the summer but are wary their potential lack of European football could be a big factor in the race for his signature.
Osimhen has managed 10 goals and three assists in 20 games for Napoli so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
His new deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is set to run until June 2026.
The former Lille striker hit 31 goals across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign to bring him to the attention of Europe’s top clubs.
He has also managed 20 goals in 27 caps for Nigeria and reached the African Cup of Nations final earlier this month.

Chelsea sit 11th in the Premier League despite their lavish recent transfer spending.
The Blues’ top scorer this term is midfielder Cole Palmer, who has hit 12 goals in 30 appearances.
