Virgil van Dijk posts two-word message after controversial Liverpool ref claim
Virgil van Dijk has taken to Instagram after Liverpool drew 2-2 with Fulham in a controversial clash at Anfield.
Arne Slot’s side dropped more points in the title race after being denied victory against the Cottagers on Saturday afternoon (14 December) in a game filled with contentious decisions from the off.
Andreas Pereria, who some felt should have been sent off in the very early stages, put the Cottagers ahead 11 minutes into the game, with the hosts going down to ten men themselves moments later.
Andy Robertson was shown a straight red card after being adjudged to have brought down former Reds man Harry Wilson as he led a Fulham attack, denying a goal-scoring opportunity.
Van Dijk was seemingly unhappy with how that decision was made, or the performance of referee Tony Harrington over the course of the game, with the Liverpool captain telling Sky Sports: “Well I had conversations with the other players of Fulham as well. We all felt he was a little bit nervous, I don’t know.
“We felt that a little bit. I couldn’t [with the Robertson red] properly communicate with him I felt. It is what it is, we can’t put the blame on the referee but it’s also part of the game.
“We [team captains] are the only ones apparently that can speak to the referee, and we all speak about protecting the referees and stuff but if I want to speak on behalf of my team then I should be able to and I felt that at times… we shouldn’t make a big thing out of this, it probably is gonna happen now, but it isn’t the reason why we dropped points.”
The Dutchman was not for dwelling on that though, as he later posted on Instagram with the message: “We move!”.

Virgil van Dijk right to look ahead after Liverpool draw with Fulham
Football Insider Opinion
In the wake of this draw with Fulham, Arne Slot’s side now have some big games to come in the next few days.
They are due to travel to Southampton in midweek in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, before a trip to Tottenham in the Premier League a week on Sunday (22nd December).
This could therefore be a pivotal period for Liverpool in their attempts to win multiple pieces of silverware this season.
With that in mind, there is little point in them dwelling on the rather understandable frustration of what happened against Fulham here.
Instead it makes a lot more sense for Liverpool to look ahead at games that prove so important to their hunt for trophies over the next few months.
Given the ongoing talk about his own contract situation, those at Anfield will surely be pleased to see that Van Dijk himself seems keen to do exactly that.
In other news, Liverpool have been given fresh hope of signing one of their summer transfer targets.
