Virgil van Dijk sends three-word Liverpool message after key development

Virgil Van Dijk has sent a three-word message to Liverpool fans after they continued their undefeated run in the Champions League.

The Reds defeated Girona by a goal to nil as Mohamed Salah gave his team the victory from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.

Arne Slot’s men were able to keep their fifth clean sheet of the competition, with Liverpool only conceding once across the opening six fixtures.

Van Dijk has been a key part in that by playing every minute in the Champions League so far, but he’s not resting on the result and is already looking ahead.

The 33-year-old said, “6/6. See you Saturday,” as the Netherlands international has his eyes on the return to the Premier League straight away.

Liverpool will face Fulham on Saturday (14 December) as they aim to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League after having a week off due to the Merseyside derby being postponed last weekend.

Virgil Van Dijk’s Liverpool future is still undetermined

The Liverpool captain might be looking ahead to playing against Fulham, but his long-term future at Anfield still remains unclear.

The Dutch defender is out of contract at the end of this season, and he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

The centre-back turned down the chance to renew his deal recently, but Football Insider revealed that he is still willing to sign a new contract with the club.

Virgil Van Dijk playing for Liverpool

Van Dijk’s decision to reject Liverpool’s initial approach is believed to be part of standard contract negotiations for players as he searches for the best possible deal.

Slot has made him a crucial part of the team this season as Van Dijk has played every game in the Premier League and Champions League as the Reds sit top of the table in both competitions.
