Vitaly Janelt aims Thomas Frank dig at Brentford teammate Yoane Wissa

Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has aimed a dig at teammate Yoane Wissa over manager Thomas Frank.

The Bees continued their impressive recent away from on Friday (21 February) with a 4-0 thumping of struggling Leicester City.

After Wissa opened the scoring, Bryan Mbuemo and Cristian Norgaard also got on the scoresheet prior to half-time to put the visitors on course for all three points.

Fabio Carvalho then completed the scoring despite claims he is being frozen out by Frank, as he came off the bench to fire home late on for Brentford.

After such a win, spirits are unsurprisingly high in the Bees’ camp, as seems to be the case by this interaction between Wissa and Janelt after the game.

Vitaly Janelt reacts to Yoane Wissa’s post-match message

After the game, Wissa took to Instagram to reflect on that latest win for Brentford, which moved them into the top half of the Premier League table.

In that message, the striker that even the manager Thomas Frank had been left “shocked” by the progress that the club are currently making.

There had been a significant personal moment for Wissa in that game too, with the substitution of club captain Norgaard and vice-captain Janelt meaning the striker took over as captain late on in the match.

Janelt though, aimed a joke in the direction of the Brentford striker, by suggesting the reason for Frank’s shock may have been Wissa taking the armband, rather than the latest result for his team.

Replying to the striker’s post, the 26-year-old joking commented: “He was shocked about you being skip I personally think”.

Thomas Frank will not want to lose Yoane Wissa from Brentford

Football Insider Verdict

Regardless of whether he expected him to captain the side late on against Leicester, Frank will undoubtedly want to keep Wissa at the club in the long-term.

This has been another excellent season for Wissa with Brentford, in which he has consistently shown the threat he poses in front of goal.

That has seen the 28-year-old become a major asset for the Bees, but also started to attract transfer interest in Wissa from elsewhere.

Given how important he is to Brentford now, that surely means Frank will be desperate to see any interest in Wissa that reemerges in the striker come the summer knocked back once again.
