Why Warburton must give 21-year-old an opportunity for Rangers v Greenock Morton

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Mark Warburton must hand young striker Joe Dodoo an opportunity in the Rangers side to face Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The 21-year-old summer signing deserves to be handed a chance back in the Gers’ line-up after being handed little opportunity in recent league matches.

The Ibrox giants have hit a poor spell of form in recent clashes, suffering a 4-1 defeat against Hearts alongside a 1-1 draw with Ross County at home on Saturday.

Strikers Joe Garner and Martyn Waghorn have also suffered a slump alongside the rest of the eleven and it is now the time for Dodoo to step up.

The youngster’s last start in the league came all the way back in November and he has featured just two times in the Premiership since.

However, with a return of four goals and two assists in 16 matches this campaign alongside being a player with immense potential it is time for Warburton to give Dodoo his chance.

This decision could also benefit Rangers in the league as Dodoo could be the long-term answer for the club’s current goal woes.

The former England Under-18 international could be like a new signing for Warburton and can even help the under pressure boss stay in a job.
