‘We’re getting relegated’, ‘This is insane’ – Everton fans are stunned by news of 16-point deduction

Everton fans are outraged by the “insane” new charge levelled at the club and the possibility of a new six-point deduction taking it to 16 in total.

The Toffees and Nottingham Forest were charged on Monday (15 January) for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules and could be set for a points deduction.

Sean Dyche’s side were already docked 10 points in November for overspending by £19.5million in the 2021-22 season – a charge they are currently appealing.

As revealed by Football Insider (15 January), Everton are expecting to be hit with a new six-point deduction when an independent commission hears their latest case.

The club expect their initial penalty to be reduced, meaning their overall points deduction could amount to 12 points in total.

Clubs are permitted to lose a maximum of £105million over a three-year period, with this fresh charge relating to Everton’s alleged breaches from last season.

Everton, despite losing 10 points, remain outside the drop zone by one point but are strong contenders to face relegation from the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Supporters, who have made their anger at the Premier League very clear since their first punishment, have taken to social media to react to the “horrible” latest charge.
