West Brom ‘forced’ to make Eric Ramsay sack decision amid mutiny

West Brom may be forced to sack Eric Ramsay as fans continued to call for his head during their latest defeat under his leadership.

Norwich knocked the Baggies out of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win at Carrow Road, meaning Ramsay has now gone seven games without a win since his appointment.

Concerns about the style of play alongside what has been a miserable run of form have led to growing discontent in the crowd which is threatening to spill over.

Former West Brom assistant manager Mick Brown told Football Insider that Ramsay’s position could soon become untenable if he fails to get the fans on side.

This comes just over a month after he was appointed to replace Ryan Mason, with the Baggies now dragged further into a relegation battle.

Eric Ramsay under intense sack pressure at West Brom

Since Ramsay’s arrival, West Brom have dropped to 20th in the Championship table, with just two points separating them from Leicester City in the relegation zone.

With seven points separating 23rd-placed Oxford United from 19th-placed Blackburn, clubs are now being tempted to take the gamble on a new boss in their bid for survival.

West Brom could be forced to make a decision,” Brown told Football Insider.

“As I’ve said before, if you’re losing football matches on a regular basis, there are always going to be questions asked of the manager.

“I know what it’s like at West Brom, the fans have high expectations, and if the manager isn’t meeting them then there’s going to be pressure.

“They’re now calling for his head because they’ve been dragged into a relegation battle, now they’re out of the FA Cup as well. He needs to start winning games.

“If he can’t put a run together over the next few then it’s hard to see how they can stick with him.

“That said, I’m not completely convinced the players they’ve got there are good enough and that’s a big reason for their struggles, but the blame always falls at the manager’s feet.”

Who will be the next Championship manager to be sacked?

Ramsay is not the only Championship manager under pressure as we approach the business end of the season, with those both at the top and bottom under pressure.

Odds on Mark Robins to be sacked by Stoke have been slashed as they continue their slide down the table despite a strong start and hopes of a playoff place.

The Potters are now 14th in the table, although they remain just five points shy of sixth place, with the playoffs still up for grabs at this stage.

Ramsay remains the leading contender to be sacked next, but is also joined by Sheffield Wednesday’s Henrik Pedersen despite the Owls’ circumstances.

Following the club going into administration and the resulting points deduction, Wednesday are rock bottom with -7 points and their relegation could be confirmed soon.
