West Brom now want to sign ex-Sunderland midfielder who Eric Ramsay has worked with
West Brom are reportedly interested in reuniting new boss Eric Ramsay with Minnesota United midfielder Nectarios Triantis this month.
West Brom sacked Ryan Mason last week after a late 2-1 defeat to Leicester City left them 18th in the Championship with one win in their previous five matches.
Several managers were linked with the job, but Football Insider revealed on Friday that Ramsay was closing in on becoming West Brom’s new boss.
He was officially appointed as the Baggies’ new manager on Sunday, leaving MLS outfit Minnesota after nearly two years in charge.
The 34-year-old will now have a tough task on his hands to turn West Brom’s fortunes around this season, and is already seeking familiar reinforcements to help him do so.

West Brom want to sign Minnesota midfielder Triantis
Football Insider revealed last summer that Triantis was being chased by Minnesota as his two-year spell on Sunderland‘s books neared its conclusion.
He moved to the MLS side to play under Ramsay, and registered three goals and two assists in 10 games during the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

The Mirror have now reported that West Brom hold an interest in Triantis, and could move to reunite him with their new boss this month.
It is understood that Ramsay would be keen on working with the 22-year-old again at the Hawthorns, with the Baggies in the market for a midfielder this month after Toby Collyer’s return to Man United.
What has Ramsay previously said about Triantis?
Club legend James Morrison became West Brom’s interim boss after Mason’s sacking, and he led them to the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday with a penalty shootout win over Swansea City.
Ramsay will, therefore, be entering a dressing room with extra confidence compared to this time last week, and will no doubt he keen to add to his squad this month as Triantis is touted to follow him to the Hawthorns.
The Greece international netted a superb long-range strike on his Minnesota debut against San Diego FC in September, and Ramsay was full of praise for his talents following the game.
He said: “I’ve watched him a lot prior to coming in. I know the level he’s played at. I know what he’s been through over the course of pre-season.
“I know the level of a Premier League pre-season, and for him to have done that over six, seven weeks and be a part of very competitive, very, very competitive teams, in friendly games, you know he’s going to be somewhere near match ready for this level.
“He couldn’t have had a better debut in my eyes, showed real maturity for someone of his age.”
Triantis clearly left an impression on Ramsay throughout their three-and-a-half months working together, and the latter will hope that he did the same as he looks to coax him to the Hawthorns this month.
