Kieran Maguire: West Brom waiting for top execs to green-light deal as new details emerge
West Brom are unlikely to learn the specifics of the New Deal for Football until it has been given the green light by the Premier League.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the proposed revamp of the distribution model for the English pyramid.
It was widely reported in July that the top flight was close to agreeing on a new system for more cash to filter down to the Football League.

It has been mooted that the so-called New Deal would include a new merit-based distribution system and fresh cost control measures.
But The Athletic reported on 25 August) that the EFL has been left in the dark about the specifics of the restructuring.
Maguire claims that the Baggies will continue to be powerless to shape the New Deal while it is in the hands of the Premier League.
“The New Deal for Football is the brainchild of the Premier League itself,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Until all the clubs there are in agreement with regards to its contents, they are unlikely to share it in any detail with clubs from the EFL.

“It will be frustrating for clubs such as West Brom to not be able to access any indication of the extent of the financial support they might receive under the New Deal.
“However, it is perhaps not surprising given that the Premier League has not yet reached a final agreement.”
In other news, Maguire “can’t believe” £105m West Brom news.
