West Ham are ‘firmly in driving seat’ to complete Lingard signing after source’s update today
West Ham have two advantages over their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, tipped the club’s brilliant start to the season and relationship with the player to prove decisive.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Friday, David Moyes revealed the Hammers remain interested in signing Lingard before the transfer window shuts.

As revealed by Football Insider (August 26th), the Irons are now confident of completing a deal for the England international after further talks.
There is no agreement in place yet though and multiple other Premier League clubs are interested in the attacking midfielder.
He was one of the most prolific scorers in the top flight in the second half of last season with nine goals and five assists from 14 matches.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Lingard’s future, Robinson said:
“I think a lot of other teams in the Premier League will be sniffing around this one. Lingard will have options if he decides to leave this week.
“But the way West Ham have started the season and the way Lingard enjoyed his football there last season tells me that they are firmly in the driving seat.
“David Moyes took off his shackles last season. He looked like he had escaped the shadow of Old Trafford.
“I think he would benefit from a move. I wouldn’t like to see him sitting on the bench but it is entirely up to the player.

“He is not going to be a regular starter at Manchester United. That is a fact but he may be comfortable with that.
“The way he played last year told me that he is at his best when he is loved and played every week. I think the taste of that last year will spur him on to move and I think the move to West Ham is happening.”
