West Ham backed for multiple signings after insider’s Nayef Aguerd reveal – ‘It’s not good’, says Agbonlahor
West Ham will likely finish in the bottom half of the table and look to overhaul the squad again next summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict as West Ham look set to tackle the festive period without Nayef Ageurd and Kurt Zouma.
The club confirmed last month (24 November) that Zouma had undergone surgery on his knee and he could be out for many months.
Ageurd was part of the Morocco squad that reached the World Cup semi-finals but missed their final three games through injury and illness.
Medical insider Ben Dinnery told this site on Saturday (17 December) that the 26-year-old has suffered a “high-end grade one” injury and could be out until 2023.
“It’s not good,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Every club have injuries and you’ve just got to get through it.
“As well for West Ham, their squad of players have not been performing up to scratch. Their hopes of finishing in the European places are not going to happen, for me.
“I just think that there are better teams. This is the season where West Ham finishes 11th or 12th and look to let some players go in the summer.
“The defence has always been their problem with injuries and they will be hoping that nobody else gets injured.”

West Ham return to action on Boxing Day with a trip to London rivals Brentford.
David Moyes’ side are 16th in the table and went into the break on a run of three consecutive defeats.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has tipped an “auction” for West Ham as the “deal of the century” is cited.
