West Ham backed for ‘very exciting’ Dwight McNeil swoop after £10m+ news – pundit
Noel Whelan has backed West Ham to sign Premier League proven midfield star Dwight McNeil this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested David Moyes could improve the 22-year-old just as he has done with former Hull forward Jarrod Bowen.
According to The Sun (3 July), West Ham are racing Crystal Palace for the signing of Burnley star McNeil following the Clarets’ relegation to the second tier.

The report claims Vincent Kompany’s side are “likely” to demand in excess of £10million for the former England Under-21 international.
McNeil has racked up 134 appearances in the Premier League since making his top-flight bow in 2018.
Whelan suggested West Ham could be getting themselves a bargain if they can seal a deal for around £10million.
“He’s a smashing player, and someone who really stands out at Burnley,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s very exciting, he has a good left foot, good turn of pace.
“David Moyes has got a track record of progressing and developing these sorts of players. Just look at Jarrod Bowen and the level he is at now. He’s one of the first names on the teamsheet.
“Bringing McNeil in for only £10million is a snip, isn’t it? He knows the Premier League and the demands of the league.
“It’s another option for West Ham. Moyes both knows he can withstand the demands but can also bring the quality he needs.
“It’s a deal that will excite the fans.”

McNeil, who is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, can play on both flanks.
West Ham will play Europa Conference League football in the 2022-23 season.
