West Ham backed to land Harry Maguire after source’s new update – pundit

West Ham are more likely to land Harry Maguire than Scott McTominay from Man United this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said McTominay still has a chance to make it into the United starting XI.

The Red Devils rejected a £30million bid from West Ham for McTominay.

On 8 August, Football Insider revealed that the Irons have submitted the same bid for Maguire and believe it will be enough to convince the Manchester club to sell the defender.

The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has been stripped of the captaincy for the upcoming season.

When asked if West Ham will be able to land a deal for both United stars, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it is a better option for Maguire.

The situation that he is in at this moment in time, the captaincy being taken off him, the fans on his back, I think it is a good opportunity for a break for him and to go somewhere else.

He would be coming into a team that likes to defend, I think David Moyes would have an arm round him and get the best out of him so it might suit him.

I think McTominay still has a lot to give, I am a massive fan of him. We see what he can do in a Scotland shirt.

I think it will be hard for him to leave, especially when he is still a decent age, he will still feel he can challenge for that midfield spot.

But if West Ham can get hold of both it would be a great signing.
