West Ham expert excited by ‘brilliant’ David Moyes replacement – ‘The fans will love it’

Graham Potter would be a “fantastic” replacement for David Moyes at West Ham United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie hailed the former Chelsea boss for his excellent tenure at Brighton.

Potter, who has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023, is reportedly one of multiple candidates shortlisted by the Irons to replace the underpressure Moyes in the dugout.

The Scotsman’s job is at risk amid the Hammers’ poor form in 2024, with their 6-0 thrashing against Arsenal on Sunday (11 February) causing outrage among the fanbase.

Potter left Stamford Bridge with the lowest points per game of any boss in the club’s history, but he spearheaded Brighton’s transformation into an exceptional Premier League outfit.

Could former Chelsea boss Graham Potter replace David Moyes at West Ham United?

McAvennie claims Potter can’t be fully blamed for his failure at Chelsea and was adamant that Hammers fans would “love” his brand of football at the London Stadium.

“Potter did brilliantly at Brighton,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve not got a problem with how it turned out for him at Chelsea because he had too many players.

“He had so many players that they it was hard to control.

“He was fantastic at Brighton and he’d be a great person to have at West Ham – I think the fans will love it.

“There wouldn’t be as much pressure on him at West Ham, but I’d still be happy if Moyes stays at the club.

“He just needs to do something about his players – they have to put something in.”
