West Ham United fans are furious with vice-chairwoman Karren Brady after she revealed her thoughts on the move from Upton Park to the London Stadium.

The Hammers officially transitioned into their current stadium in 2016, ushering in a significant change for the football club.

West Ham’s London Stadium was not a purpose-built football stadium though, as it was originally known as the Olympic Stadium and was created to host 80,000 spectators during the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

That was then changed into a UEFA Category 4 venue football stadium as West Ham were granted a 99-year licence at the London Stadium to sit 66,000 fans inside.

The Irons have had mixed results inside the London Stadium, but the current season is proving to be a difficult one after Julen Lopetegui’s disastrous run in charge left them involved in a relegation fight.

However, there have already been doubts over Graham Potter’s ability to lead West Ham out of the current situation after winning just one of his six matches in charge so far.

Karren Brady upbeat about West Ham move to London Stadium

Brady recently spoke to Sky Sports about the London Stadium and the benefits that moving into it have provided West Ham.

She said, “I always make the decisions I believe are right, for the right reasons, and coming here was the right decision for the right reason.

I knew there would always be an element of the supporters that didn’t want to and people don’t like change, most people want things to stay the same. But actually, without change, you can’t evolve.

“This stadium has given us a platform in which we have continued to grow the club, it’s led us to win a European trophy, it’s given the opportunity for 35,000 families to come in here every matchday. We have the cheapest season tickets despite being in a new stadium in London, in the Premier League.”

The Hammers faithful haven’t all bought into the message that Karren Brady has been putting out though, as some have claimed that “she’s scum” after taking away concessions tickets.

Other supporters have claimed the decision was right for Brady “financially,” but claimed she’s “destroying the club” in the process.
