West Ham fans destroy Allardyce on Twitter after Sunderland defeat

By Matt Farr

Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace suffered an embarrassing defeat to relegation rivals Sunderland on Saturday – and West Ham fans loved every moment.

The Eagles were left broken and battered by four first-half goals from Sunderland, raising even further doubts over their Premier League credentials.

Allardyce, who spent four years in charge of West Ham, was appointed at Selhurst Park based on his impressive record of keeping sides in the top-flight; however, he faces arguably his toughest test yet with Palace.

His new side now have just one win in their last 10 league games, and while they are currently just two points short of safety, things are not looking good for the 19th-placed side.

West Ham, meanwhile, bounced back from a disastrous midweek defeat to Manchester City with a resounding win over Southampton.

The victory gave Hammers fans plenty to cheer about, but they also took pleasure from Allardyce’s latest setback, taking to social media to destroy their former boss.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

West Ham are currently 12 points better-off than Crystal Palace in the top-half of the Premier League table, the same points margin that league leaders Chelsea have established over Arsenal in the title race.

After leaving his post as West Ham manager in 2015 at the end of his contract, the 62-year-old took charge at Sunderland, helping them retain their top-flight status for another season.

His track record, coupled with the departure of Roy Hodgson from his post, earned him the managerial position with the England national team.

However, following allegations of malpractice, he was forced to leave the role after just one game. After a three-month absence, Allardyce swiftly returned to management with Crystal Palace.
