West Ham fans react on Twitter to speculation about signing proven PL performer
By Will Butcher
West Ham fans are desperate on Twitter for their club to tie up a deal for Manchester City’s Bacary Sagna on a free transfer.
The Telegraph claim that the Hammers are interested in the 33-year-old defender, as his contract enters its final six months at the Etihad Stadium.
Manager Slaven Bilic has been reportedly interested in a whole host of right-backs throughout January, as the right side of defence continues to prove a problem position for him.
The former Croatia manager has been forced to play Michail Antonio, Havard Nordtveit and Cheikhou Kouyate out of position throughout the season, as Sam Byram and Alvaro Arbeloa struggled to overcome injuries.
West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported interest in France international Sagna, with the general belief being that proven Premier League performer Sagna would be a fantastic signing for the Hammers.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Sagna, a 65-time international, possesses huge Premier League experience after moving to Arsenal back in 2007 from French side Auxerre.
With 262 appearances in England’s top flight to his name, Sagna could be brought in as a useful option at right-back as he struggles to regularly feature for Pep Guardiola’s City this term.
In other West Ham transfer news, the Hammers are also eyeing a move for this 23-year-old La Liga enforcer.
