West Ham handed ‘huge’ boost in luring three-time title winner
West Ham have been handed a “huge” boost in their pursuit of Sergio Conceicao due to him being out of work currently.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson stated that it would be a good opportunity as the Hammers would not have to “pay compensation fees.”
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that David Sullivan is considering a ‘plan B’ regarding the managerial situation as pressure is growing on Julen Lopetegui.
The Spaniard has struggled to provide results in east London despite the Premier League side financially backing him during the summer transfer window.
The Hammers sit 14th in the table with just three wins in 11 matches, with the club contemplating Lopetegui’s long-term future.
West Ham could look to pursue Sergio Conceicao
“Look at the three titles he won at Porto,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“Porto has been a decent breeding ground for top managers who have come to the Premier League.
“He’s got a great CV, but I agree with Pete; the West Ham hierarchy, they employed a manager in the summer only what four months ago, five months ago, who they trusted to do a job.
“They knew it was going to be a big overhaul, it’s not going to take a manager one transfer window and have an immediate impact
“The unrest has obviously already started because you’re not seeing those signs of change.

“They’re seeing much of what they saw last year.
“Conceicao is a top manager and he’s out of work which is a huge bonus for West Ham when you look at the opportunity to have to pay or not to pay compensation fees.”
