West Ham hit stumbling block in Carlos Soler chase – sources

West Ham need to sell a few players before they can bring in any new faces before the transfer window ends, sources have told Football Insider.

This will present a stumbling block in their pursuit of PSG’s Carols Soler, who sources claim is West Ham’s top target.

The Irons want to sign a new central midfielder before the window closes, but the Premier League outfit will need to offload some people before that can happen.

Football Insider revealed that the club are willing to accept a £25million bid for James Ward-Prowse this week.

The central midfielder has dropped down the pecking order under Julen Lopetegui, with the new boss not regarding him as instrumental as David Moyes had done.

Football Insider reported that Nottingham Forest are lining up an ambitious late move for Ward-Prowse, which could open the door for the Irons to move for Soler.

West Ham view Carlos Soler as an ideal first-team star

Soler is currently under contract at PSG until 2027, but the French outfit could cash in on him during this window.

The 27-year-old was not in the match-day squad for PSG’s 6-0 win against Montpellier and was an unused substitute in the opening game of the Ligue 1 campaign.

Soler was a regular feature for PSG last season though, playing 28 times for the club as he scored two goals and provided four assists.

Tammy Abraham playing for Roma

The Irons are also in the market for another striker to provide further competition and depth.

Football Insider revealed that Roma’s Tammy Abraham is the top target for that, as West Ham wants to bring the England international back to the Premier League.
