West Ham manager deal close: ‘Talks re-open’ with 42-year-old
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed West Ham are still holding conversations with ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic about the manager role.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the 42-year-old is a better fit than Graham Potter to succeed Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 December) that Lopetegui is under growing sack pressure at West Ham after narrowly escaping losing his job earlier in the month.
Terzic and Potter have been widely linked with the role, which could become available if results and performances don’t improve in a timely manner.
West Ham currently sit 13th in the Premier League table and are eight points above the drop zone.
West Ham still in talks with Terzic, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Potter is the bookies’ favourite, and the one already reported to have fallen through is Edin Terzic.
“I still think he may go to West Ham. I’m still hearing whispers that there are conversations going on.
“He would be a good pick for them, he’s been at the club before.
“That would be a better solution than Potter for me. Potter understands the club’s style of play and the philosophy, but he’ll have to make that team tick.

“The London Stadium is very hard to create an atmosphere in, so whoever comes in has to give the fans something to cheer.
“It’s got to be someone with an attacking flair. We’d love to see that, because when West Ham are playing their right kind of football – it’s a joy to see.”
